The delightful cobbled market square is surrounded by high quality, independent shops and a great variety of places to eat. The Cobbles Inn, with folk singing on Friday nights, Oscars Wine Bar and the Cross Keys are all very popular The ancient remains of Kelso Abbey stand near the Rennie Bridge, a model for London Bridge. Upstream the famous Junction Pool, where Tweed and Teviot meet, make an impressive setting infront of Ednam House Hotel - where you can have a bar lunch watching skilled salmon fishers wade or cast from boats rowed by local ghillies. Just outside Kelso, Floors Castle stands in a magnificent parkland setting overlooking the Tweed. At the end of the farm road, Kelso Race Course “Britain’s Friendliest course,” surrounds Kelso Golf Course . Kelso also has a swimming pool, ice-rink in season and the Abbey Fitness Centre.
