Kelso - some tourist information

Floors Castle
Kelso Abbey

KELSO is on the doorstep - well it's just over two miles away from Hendersyde Farm Holiday Cottages! The town has to be one of the most picturesque in Scotland!

Sir Walter Scott certainly thought it "the most beautiful, if not the most romantic town in Scotland"!

The delightful cobbled market square is surrounded by high quality, independent shops and a great variety of places to eat. The Cobbles Inn, with folk singing on Friday nights, Oscars Wine Bar and the Cross Keys are all very popular

The ancient remains of Kelso Abbey stand near the Rennie Bridge, a model for London Bridge. Upstream the famous Junction Pool, where Tweed and Teviot meet, make an impressive setting infront of Ednam House Hotel - where you can have a bar lunch watching skilled salmon fishers wade or cast from boats rowed by local ghillies.

On the southern bank of Tweed the Border Union Show Ground at Springwood Park, hosts many and varied events….from Championship Dog Shows, the Border Union Agricultural Show, antique fairs, vintage tractor rallies, craft fairs to my favourite day...Kelso Ram Sales!

Just outside Kelso, Floors Castle stands in a magnificent parkland setting overlooking the Tweed.

At the end of the farm road, Kelso Race Course “Britain’s Friendliest course,” surrounds Kelso Golf Course . Kelso also has a swimming pool, ice-rink in season and the Abbey Fitness Centre.
