No apologies for this being a very long page! There's so much to do in the Borders I could fill a book! This is the edited version! I freely admit to being totally biased about the area - so if you would like to see what others think about Hendersyde and the Borders. is the largest body of water in the Borders. At just over 3 miles long, it ranges in depth to over 150ft deep and is half a mile across at its widest point. Hermitage Castle - An awesome, eerie ruin, set in a lonely spot, Hermitage Castle has a history filled with intrigue.... Traquair the oldest inhabited house in Scotland - buzzing with activity and it's own traditionally brewed beer! Near Peebles. Thirlestane Castle by Lauder Monteviot House and Garden on the way to Jedburgh Mary Queen of Scots' House Jedburgh Manderston, Duns Berwickshire.The Edwardian Country House Bamburgh Castle on the Northumbrian Coast The tide time-table for Holy Island off the coast of Northumberland, otherwise known as Lindisfarne! Alnwick Castle in Northumberland - where Harry Potter was filmed! Monteviot Garden off the A698 towards Jedburgh Kailzie Gardens, near Peebles Dawyck Botanic Garden - in a charming Borders glen lies one of the world's finest arboreta, home to some of Britain's tallest trees and now the first 5 Star Garden in Scotland Harmony Garden at Melrose Priorwood - Melrose - the only dedicated dried flower garden in Scotland, producing, processing and arranging dried flowers Alnwick Castle Gardens in Northumberland - a very modern interpretation - well worth a visit!
