No apologies for this being a very long page! There's so much to do in the Borders I could fill a book, this is the edited version! I freely admit to being totally biased about the area - so if you would like to see what others think about Hendersyde and the Borders. In the same corner of the Borders Coldingham Loch is a natural spring fed 22 acre Loch. St Mary's Loch, between Selkirk and Moffat
is the largest body of water in the Borders. At just over 3 miles long, it ranges in depth to over 150ft deep and is half a mile across at its widest point. Orvis comes to Kelso! Cycling - sleepy side roads to sensational slopes! We have space to store bikes and lots of cycling information in the cottages. Quiet roads and reasonably kind gradients make biking in the Borders a relatively undiscovered pedaling paradise!! Golfing - on glorious greens with gorgeous views! Near by - very handily placed - at the end of the farm road is Kelso Golf Club The club have kindly offered discounts on the green fees, if you are staying at Hendersyde. Drop me a line for more information! About 5 miles away and rather more challenging! The Roxburghe Championship Course at Heiton - to the west of Kelso. About 8 miles to the east of Hendersyde, at Coldstream The Hirsel Golf Course Make the most of the Border's Freedom of the Fairways golf pass. The best selling golf pass in Scotland!

Hermitage Castle - An awesome, eerie ruin, set in a lonely spot, Hermitage Castle has a history filled with intrigue.... Traquair the oldest inhabited house in Scotland - buzzing with activity and it's own traditionally brewed beer! Near Peebles. Thirlestane Castle by Lauder Monteviot House and Garden on the way to Jedburgh Mary Queen of Scots' House Jedburgh Manderston, Duns Berwickshire.The Edwardian Country House Bamburgh Castle on the Northumbrian Coast The tide time-table for Holy Island off the coast of Northumberland, otherwise known as Lindisfarne! Alnwick Castle in Northumberland - where Harry Potter was filmed! Glorious Gardens The Teviot Smokery Coffee Shop and Water Gardens, just outside Kelso on the A698 toward Jedburgh Woodside Walled Garden has to be near the top of my list, for it's genuine charm and position. Monteviot Garden off the A698 towards Jedburgh Kailzie Gardens, near Peebles Dawyck Botanic Garden - in a charming Borders glen lies one of the world's finest arboreta, home to some of Britain's tallest trees and now the first 5 Star Garden in Scotland Harmony Garden at Melrose Priorwood - Melrose - the only dedicated dried flower garden in Scotland, producing, processing and arranging dried flowers Not a garden - but gardening related! If you are in Melrose - I love popping into GardenOptions - it is quite simply charming! Alnwick Castle Gardens in Northumberland - a very modern interpretation - well worth a visit! Cragside House and Gardens Rothbury Northumberland Books - Leaf through this section - in your own time! Main Street Trading Company - highly recommended! For more books - Barter Books in Alnwick Railway Station, as was, must be on your "to visit list" - one of the largest second hand book shops in Britain - it is quite simply amazing!
